What does clothing product photography cost per image in 2026?

Between $15 and $75 per shot for a clothing product photo on a plain background, $75 to $350 per image from a professional, and about $45 per finished photo once a one-day on-model shoot is divided by the images it produced, according to four published pricing guides from 2024 to 2026 [1][2][3]. Retouching is billed on top in most of them. Below are the ranges as the guides state them, then the same photo priced on Uwear, where the unit is a generation and the reviewer's retries are a ceiling you see before the run.
What the guides charge per image
| Line | Published range | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Product photo, plain background | $15 to $75 per shot [1]; $10 to $100 per image flat rate, tiered packages of $100 for 1 to 5 photos, $160 for 6 to 10, $210 for 11 to 15 [3] | Packshots and flat lays; no model on the day |
| Professional per-image pricing | $75 to $350 per photo; amateurs $25 to $50 [2] | Includes the photographer’s time divided by the images |
| Per product | $15 to $300 per product depending on complexity and equipment [3] | Several angles of one item |
| On-model, one-day shoot | About $2,750 for ten outfits and about 60 images, about $45 per finished photo [2] | Photographer, model, hair and makeup, studio, post-production divided by the images |
| Retouching, basic | $5 to $20 per image [1]; $10 to $30 per photo [2] | Billed on top of the per-image price |
| Retouching, extensive | $50 to $150 per image [1][4] | Compositing, skin, fabric, colour matching |
| Post-production share | 20 to 50% of the shoot total [2] | Across the whole job |
| Rush and season | 25 to 50% extra for a 24-hour turnaround, 10 to 20% more in high season [3] | When it applies |
Two things to read in that table. The per-image price is mostly the day divided by the count, so it falls as the shoot gets longer and rises when a model and a stylist are on set. And the number you are quoted is rarely the number you pay: retouching, rush and season sit outside it.

The same photo on Uwear, per generation
A credit is $0.10 [6] and the rate depends on the image model and the resolution [5]. Uwear does not quote a price per accepted image: the AI reviewer, when it is on, retries a photo that drifts from the product photo, and each retry is a generation. The estimate for a run states a ceiling on retries; a typical run retries 10 to 20% of its photos.
| Line | Basis | Per photo |
|---|---|---|
| Listing photo at 1K | Nano Banana 2, 3 credits [5]; a credit is $0.10 [6] | $0.30 |
| Listing photo at 2K | Nano Banana 2 at 2K or Nano Banana Pro, 5 credits [5] | $0.50 |
| Listing photo at 4K | Nano Banana Pro at 4K, 10 credits [5] | $1.00 |
| GPT Image 2 High | 12 credits [5] | $1.20 |
| AI reviewer | 1 credit per photo, optional [5] | $0.10 |
| A retry | One more generation when the reviewer flags the photo; 10 to 20% of photos in a typical run | the photo price again |
| Back and detail views | Camera edits of the approved photo, priced as generations at the same rate | per view |
| A 5-second clip | Kling 3 Pro, 23 credits [5] | $2.30 |
What that leaves out: a product photo of the garment, which both paths need, and an hour to set the model and the direction once. And what the studio image includes that a listing does not need: the photographer's eye on a garment that photographs badly, and a person who fixes the problem before it is a rejected file. For the listing photos of a range, the arithmetic above; for the campaign, still the day rate, paid once.

“Connect to the Uwear MCP server and load the "Product page set" template. Run it on the garments tagged new-season with my saved model and my saved studio direction, reviewer on with one retry, and show me the costed brief with the per-photo and worst-case totals before generating anything.”
Questions brands ask about the price per image
How much does a clothing product photo cost per image?
From the published guides: $15 to $75 per shot for product photography on a plain background, $25 to $50 per photo from amateurs and $75 to $350 from professionals, and $10 to $100 per image on flat-rate menus, with tiered packages such as $100 for one to five photos. On-model photos cost more than packshots because a model, a stylist and hair and makeup are on the day.
Is retouching included in the per-image price?
Usually not. The guides bill it separately: $5 to $20 per image for basic work, $50 to $150 for extensive retouching, $10 to $30 per photo in one breakdown, and 20 to 50% of the shoot total overall. Rush turnaround adds 25 to 50% and high season 10 to 20% in the 2024 guide.
What does the same photo cost on Uwear?
From 3 credits, $0.30, at 1K on Nano Banana 2; 5 credits at 2K; 5 credits on Nano Banana Pro and 10 at 4K; 12 on GPT Image 2 High. The AI reviewer adds 1 credit per photo when it is on. Uwear prices the generation, not the accepted image: retries consume credits, so the run is priced before it starts with a ceiling on retries, and a typical run retries 10 to 20% of its photos.
What does the AI price leave out?
A product photo of the garment, which you need before either path starts, and the time to set the model and the direction once. It also leaves out what the studio image includes that a listing does not need: the photographer's eye on a garment that photographs badly, and a person on set who fixes a problem before it is a rejected file.
Does the per-image price fall with volume?
In a studio, yes: packages drop the per-image rate as the count rises, and the 2024 guide shows tiers such as $100 for one to five and $210 for eleven to fifteen. On Uwear the per-generation rate is flat; what falls with volume is the setup, because the model and the direction are set once and reused across the whole range, and a 500-product run is priced as one estimate.
