About $700 a day for an amateur model and $1,600 for an intermediate one, plus a 15 to 20% agency commission, according to an August 2025 breakdown [1]; $100 to $2,000 or more per model for an ecommerce clothing shoot in an April 2026 budget guide [2]; hundreds to several thousand dollars a day for campaign talent in a July 2026 pricing guide [3]. Below are the rates as the guides state them and what sits on top, then what a model costs on Uwear, where there is no day: the model is created once, for a credit, and returns on every product.

Published model rates, and what sits on top

LinePublished rangeWhen it applies
Model, hourlyBeginners $20 to $50, experienced $50 to $150 per hour [1]Short shoots and tests
Model, dayAbout $700 a day amateur, $1,600 intermediate; half and full days $400 to $800 [1]The listing-shoot day
Model, per ecommerce shoot$100 to $2,000 or more per model [2]Depends on experience and agency
Model, campaignHundreds to several thousand dollars per day [3]Campaign talent
Agency commission15 to 20% on top of the model fee [1]When booked through an agency
Hair and makeup$100 to $400 total [1]; $150 to $800 per day [2]; $300 to $1,000 per artist per day [3]The model does not arrive camera-ready
Stylist$300 to $800 or more [1]; $600 to $1,500 per day [3]Wardrobe on set
Usage rightsListed among the costs shoots underestimate [3]Renewals over time
Model test shootEntry $150 to $400, mid $500 to $900, high-end $1,000 to $1,500 or more per session [1]Building a model’s book

The day rate is the visible line. The commission, hair and makeup, the stylist and the usage rights are the ones that turn a $700 model into a $1,500 model on the invoice, and none of them make the next drop cheaper: the booking starts again.

A model on Uwear

A credit is $0.10 [5]. A model is created from a description or from reference photos for one credit, saving one from a photo you already generated is free, and the photos and clips the model appears in are priced per generation [4]. The model is stored in your library and returns on every product; when the AI reviewer is on, a photo that shows a different person is rejected and retried.

What the saved model does not do: hold the campaign moment, or bring a photographer's eye to a garment that photographs badly. For the campaign the day rate may still be the right spend, paid once a season. For the listing photos of a range, the saved model is doing the job the day rate was paying for, and it is available the day the next product photo lands.

With the Uwear MCP server, the connector that lets ChatGPT, Claude or Codex plan and run a job, connected to ChatGPT, Claude or Codex, the assistant creates and saves the model, plans the run, shows the credit estimate with its worst case, and waits for your approval.

Questions brands ask about model rates

What is a typical model day rate?

From the published guides: about $700 a day for an amateur and $1,600 for an intermediate model, with half and full days at $400 to $800, plus a 15 to 20% agency commission; $100 to $2,000 or more per model for an ecommerce clothing shoot; and hundreds to several thousand dollars per day for talent on a fashion campaign. Hourly, beginners charge $20 to $50 and experienced models $50 to $150.

What sits on top of the day rate?

The agency commission of 15 to 20%, hair and makeup at $100 to $1,000 a day depending on the guide, a stylist at $300 to $1,500, and the photographer, studio and retouching the model does not include. The July 2026 guide also lists usage-rights renewals among the costs shoots underestimate.

What does a model cost on Uwear?

One credit, $0.10, to create a model from a description or reference photos, and nothing to save one from a photo you already generated. The model is stored in your library and returns on every product; the photos it appears in are priced per generation, from 3 credits. There is no day, so there is no day rate, no half day and no reshoot day.

Does the same model come back for the next drop?

Yes. The saved model is the same person on every generation, this season and next, and the AI reviewer rejects a photo that shows a different person when it is on. With a real model that continuity depends on availability and a new booking each time.

When is a real model still the right spend?

For the campaign: the moment, the movement, the face the brand is built around, and the photographer's eye on set. For the listing photos of a range, the saved model does the job the day rate was paying for. Many brands do both: the campaign on the day, the catalog on the saved model.
