Ghost mannequin photography
Ghost mannequin photography is a product-imaging method that shows a garment in a filled, three-dimensional shape while removing the mannequin or model from the final image. Separate frames are often combined so inner details such as the neckline, collar, or waistband remain visible.
Context
Understand the term in production
The method gives shoppers more information about volume and construction than a flat lay while keeping attention on the product. It is commonly used for apparel PDPs that need a repeatable product-only view across many categories.
How it works
Follow the production logic
- 01
Support the garment
Dress a mannequin or use another form that holds the garment in its intended shape.
- 02
Capture the hidden areas
Photograph exterior and interior views so openings remain complete after the support is removed.
- 03
Assemble and review
Composite the useful frames, clean the edges, and check shape, seams, color, and symmetry.
